You may think that your oily locks need to be washed every day, but this isn't necessarily the case. It's actually better to leave your hair alone for a day. Avoid ruining your hair with daily washing. These tips will help you go a day without washing your hair.

Step 1

You may think that your oily locks need to be washed every day, but this isn't necessarily the case. It's actually better to leave your hair alone for a day. Avoid ruining your hair with daily washing. These tips will help you go a day without washing your hair.

Step 2

Use more products. Leaving your hair ‘au natural' may actually be what's causing it to look so dirty. By using products like mousse, hairspray and volumizing spritzers, you can keep your hair from getting oily. Go a day without washing your hair by using more products instead. Apply these products when you style your hair and when you need to re-vitalize your hair in the middle of the day. They will keep your hair looking fresh.

Step 3

Try re-doing your hair instead of washing it. Going a day without washing your hair may be easier than you think. Instead of grabbing for the shampoo, try grabbing for the curling iron instead. Fix your ‘do with a few new curls in the morning. A spritz of hairspray will hold your fresh curls in place, saving you the time and expense of having to wash and style your hair again.

Step 4

Consider using a dry shampoo. Dry shampoo (or hair powder) is rising in popularity as people begin to see the need avoid washing hair every day. Although it's a little pricey, hair powder can clean your hair without actually washing it. The powder absorbs any oil in your hair so that you can space out your washings. (You may want to wear gloves since it comes colored and will transfer to your hands). Apply to your hair in small chunks for the best results. But be careful. You may just become addicted to this quick way of cleaning your hair that leads to less styling time in the morning.

Going a few days between hair washings is actually quite healthy for your hair, even though it may seem like a foreign concept to you. Changing your hair-washing routine to every other day allows your scalp to replenish its natural oils, leaving you with healthier locks.
