Do you have acne scars? Know that you don’t have to endure them. There are many remedies that you could try out in order to reduce the appearance of your scars. The great news is that even if you don’t have the budget right now for professional treatments such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion, you could just as effectively try out home remedies that won’t cost you more than a few dollars. One of the most popular home remedies to try out uses honey as the main ingredient. Here are the steps to heal acne scars and marks with a honey mask:

Choose raw, unprocessed honey. This is the type of honey that is found to be most effective in healing acne scars. If you find Manuka honey (made from the manuka bush from New Zealand) in your grocery store, this is even more effective.

Wash your face. Remember, before putting honey on your face you have to make sure your face is thoroughly clean and dry!

Prepare. Make sure that you pull back your hair in a ponytail, as loose strands that get into your face might make a sticky, icky mess. Also, make sure that you stay throughout the duration of your honey treatment in a clean room: you wouldn’t want dirt and dust to be part of the honey mixture on your beautiful face!

Use the honey by itself. If you’re too tired to prepare a honey mask mixture, know that you can just as effectively use honey by itself. Simply apply a layer of honey onto your face, and leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes. Remember, it’s very important to remember that your face is very sensitive and fragile: use only your ring finger to apply the honey, and use gentle strokes. You should also avoid pulling on your skin to avoid the formation of wrinkles.

Make sure that you avoid the sensitive eye area when applying the honey.

. If you want to add a little extra something to the honey, you could try out this recipe: take three tablespoons of honey and mix it in with cinnamon, oatmeal and a little lemon juice (lemon juice is good for whitening the skin). You can experiment with the proportions; just make sure that you don’t put too much cinnamon or oatmeal that you end up with a paste instead of a liquid clay mask. Thoroughly mix the ingredients and apply it onto your face. Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes.

Rinse off the honey mask with warm water. Make sure that you thoroughly take away every drop of honey on your face. Then, pat your face dry with a clean towel.

If you do this procedure regularly, you’d find your face to have tighter pores and less redness and inflammation. Remember this: though this treatment works effectively for most people, there is a chance that it won’t work for you. The best way to tell if this honey mask treatment is good for you is to see what happens after the first treatment. If your skin looks any worse, then stop this immediately: don’t tell yourself that you should wait until the next few treatments to decide. When it comes to facial skin, there should be some improvement after the first try. If it doesn’t, the good news is, there are many other home remedies you could try out. Good luck, and hope this helped!
