A staple in many women's makeup supplies is a variety of makeup brushes. These brushes are crucial to achieving perfect makeup application, and we women would be lost without them. Good makeup brushes can be quite costly. Therefore, it is important to take good and proper care of our makeup brushes so that the bristles remain soft. Follow these simple steps to keep your brushes in the best condition and maintain softness.
- After every use, it is important to wash your brushes thoroughly and properly. To do this, start with lukewarm water. Gently run your fingers through the brush head as you rinse it in the warm water. It is important that every single bristle gets rinsed. Carefully rub off any makeup that might be stuck on. Be sure to continue rinsing until the brush is completely clean. This is very important, so take your time and do a good job.
- Next, apply a small amount of ordinary hair conditioner to the brush. Carefully massage the conditioner into the brush. Be sure every single bristle gets coated with it. Set the brush aside and leave the conditioner in the brush for approximately one and a half minutes. While you are waiting, you can take that time to wash the conditioner from your hands.
- Then, rinse your brush again. As before, take your time and rinse your brush carefully. It is important to go through each and every bristle to ensure that every bit of conditioner is thoroughly washed out. Conditioner left in the brush could cause the bristles to become stuck together. Don't worry, it only takes a few short minutes to rinse away the conditioner.
- Give your brush a good shake to remove excess water from the bristles. Then, squeeze the brush firmly, but gently, in your hand to get even more water out. Be sure not to get over zealous during this step. Squeezing your brush head too hard could cause some of the bristles to come out. Be sure to dry your hands before moving on to the next step.
- Further dry your brush head using a towel. Use great care during this step, making sure to be very gentle. You will not be able to get your brush completely dry; however, you should be able to get it pretty close. When you are done towel drying, set aside and allow the brush to air dry the rest of way. Be sure the brush is left out in the open until it is completely dry.
Follow this procedure for all of your makeup brushes after each and every use. Taking good care of your makeup brushes will ensure that they last for a long time and that the bristles maintain softness.
