In a pinch you can make a new wallet instead of buying one. All you need is a roll of duct tape and you can create a wallet to store your cash and credit cards. Follow these steps and you can make duct tape wallets.

Materials

  • Roll of duct tape
  • Razor blade cutter
  • Ruler
  • Cutting board

Steps

  1. Start by creating a sheet of duct tape. Using a cutting board helps you create a smooth and even rectangular shape. Start by laying a piece of duct tape on the cutting board sticky side down. The sheet should be two inches longer than a dollar bill. Lay a second piece of duct tape so that it overlaps the first by ½ inch. Add a third strip of duct tape with the same overlap. The three strips together should be double the height of a dollar bill. If they are not, add a fourth strip.
  2. Turn the sheet over. Peel the sheet off the cutting board and place it sticky side up. Then place another layer of duct tape sticky side down so that it covers the original sheet of tape with a ½" excess on all sides. Now you have a sheet of duct tape that is only sticky on the outside edges.
  3. Fold over the sticky edges. This completes the sheet of duct tape.
  4. Repeat steps one through three to create a pocket. Make this second sheet ½ inch smaller on the short side than the original sheet.
  5. Make the wallet. Start with the first sheet and fold it in half lengthwise. You should have the basic shape of a wallet that will fit bills in the fold. Repeat the fold with the second sheet of duct tape. Attach the second sheet over the first so that it creates a pocket for your credit cards. Use two more pieces of duct tape to secure the sides of the wallet closed.
  6. Fold the wallet in half. There you have it. You have made a duct tape wallet.

Add some cash to your wallet. Stick the wallet in your back pocket and you are ready to go. You have a wallet that won't wear out and will protect your cash while keeping it handy. Feel free to use different colors of duct tape to personalize your new wallet.
