Chemical soaps make several anti-acne promises, but some of them fail to deliver. And those that can actually work are way beyond the budget. If you have used plenty of chemical anti-acne soaps but are frustrated with the results, maybe it is time to give natural treatments a try. In fact, you can even make your own natural anti-acne soap. This article will give you some recipes for an acne-fighting soap.
- Yogurt soap. Yogurt is an effective anti-acne soap because of its antibacterial properties. For this liquid soap recipe, you will need one cup plain yogurt, one tablespoon honey, ½ cup oatmeal, and ½ cup mashed papaya. All these ingredients will benefit an acne-prone skin. Honey, for one, has healing effects, while oatmeal and papaya are natural exfoliators. To start, make the soap base by mixing yogurt and papaya in one small bowl. Then, toss oatmeal in the mixture. Avoid instant oatmeal because it will soften pretty fast. Next, add the mashed papaya. Mix all the ingredients well, and you are done. This natural liquid soap should be applied to the face twice daily. Leave this on the face for one to two minutes and rinse. Yogurt soap can be used for up to three days. After that period, dispose of it and make another yogurt mixture.
- Lavender milk soap. Aside from its therapeutic aroma, lavender is known to have anti-fungal properties and is therefore potent in treating several skin problems such as acne. To make a lavender milk soap, you will need 1.5 ounce lavender oil, two tablespoons lavender powder, eight ounce goat milk, four ounce lye, 24 ounce olive oil, and eight ounce palm kernel oil. Start by mixing the lye with frozen goat milk. Stir well until the two ingredients blend together. Then, melt your palm kernel oil. Add the olive oil after the palm kernel oil has completely melted. Now you can gradually add the lye and goat milk mixture into the oils. Stir very well. After a few minutes, add the lavender powder. Mix well. And finally pour the lavender oil. Again, stir the ingredients well. Put the soap mixture into the mold and leave it for about 24 hours. Cut your soap after, and leave it for at least a week before using.
- Tea tree oil soap. Tea tree oil has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, making it very effective in preventing and treating acne. To make a simple tea tree oil soap, you only need two cups glycerin soap base and two tablespoons tea tree oil. Glycerin is best to use because it has natural moisturizing effects and does not require lye. You simply need to melt the glycerin soap base and add the oil. Mix very well, making sure that the pot is not too hot. When done, pour the soap mixture into a mold. Let it harden and cut after.
Make sure to test the soap first on an inconspicuous part of the body.
Check if you have adverse reactions to the soap. If there is none, you
can use the soap to your face. After several uses, your face should be
clear of acne.
