Many men like to apply a pre-shave oil before applying their shaving cream. It really makes for a better shave. The only problem is pre-shave oils are not cheap. This article will show you how you can make your own pre-shave oil at home and inexpensively.
You will only need a few essentials and you are ready to go. The first thing you will need to make your pre-shave oil is a jar. You can use an empty jar that used to be filled with pre-shaved oil or something similar if you have one. Most any jar will do. The jar should also contain a secure lid.
The next thing you will need is some sort of essential oil. You can usually find these at your local bath and body stores or at most women's lingerie stores. The oils will come in a variety of fragrances and properties. Use one that is more suited for your taste. It is not recommended that you purchase anything with an overly floral fragrance.
The last two ingredients you will need can easily be found at your grocery store or local convenience store. You need a bottle of olive oil. Olive oil is known for being good for your skin. You will also need a bottle of castor oil. The total cost for both of these items should be under $20. Now that you have all of your ingredients for your pre-shave oil, you are ready to begin. It is very simple and you will ask yourself why you haven't done this before. Use more or less of the ingredients for your taste. Depending on the size of your jar, you will want to pour in about 2- 3 ounces of olive oil. Next you will want to use your castor oil. Fill the jar almost to the top but leaving enough room to add your essential oil. The final ingredient to your pre-shave oil is your essential oil. Using a dropper or something similar, drop in between 4-7 drops of the oil into your mixture.
After all of your ingredients are in the jar, secure the lid that goes with the jar. Make sure it is on tight, as you do not want the oils to stain any fabrics that may be near. Shake the jar well enough to mix all of the oils together. Your pre-shave oil is ready to be used!
Since oil does settle, it is a good idea to shake your pre-shave oil before every use. After applying the oil, you will be able to see how similar it is to the expensive oil you previously used to buy. And since you didn't use all of your purchased ingredients, you should have enough to make many more batches. Happy shaving!
