Are you tired of buying and trying different commercial brands of mineral foundation?  Indeed finding the perfect one can cost a lot.  You may not have noticed it, but you must have spent a lot already and still nothing seems to have the perfect mixture that suits your skin.  If you are not lucky, you must have also experienced what many unfortunate women did, ugly rashes due to allergic reactions to the foundation or mineral cosmetics they applied. The better option is to prepare it yourself. This will not just save your precious money for other more important things, but it will also suit the distinct features of your skin.

Before you start mixing your ingredients though, you may consider looking at reviews, comparisons, brushes, powders, recipes, etc.  All these would matter in making your foundation.  Below are some recipes you can follow.

1.    If you have a pale light complexion, you might want to put some tan on your face. Just get the ingredients ready.  These are quite easy to find, as these are commonly used as make-up minerals.  Prepare them in the following measurements:

  • titanium dioxide in ¼ tsp
  • sericite in 1 tsp
  • zinc oxide in ¼ tsp
  • facial silk in 1 tsp
  • mica, white matte in 3 tsps
  • matte mica, chamomile in ¼ tsp
  • red oxide in 1/16 tsp
  • mica, cobalt blue in 1/16 tsp
  • brown oxide in 1/16 tsp
  • mica, Arizona sandstone in 1 tsp

2.    Pour first the titanium oxide into a small mixing bowl. Pour also the rest of ingredients individually except the oxides.  Mix these well after each pouring of one mineral powder. Then pour the oxides into the mixing bowl so that you could control the mixing to produce the color that you like. Add the oxides in pinches of grains.  You can add more if you think the color’s still pale for your skin.  When everything is in, mix these together until you get the right color you want. It usually takes 3 to 4 minutes to have the perfect blend.

3.    For a light brown foundation, if you think that a shining tan one does not suit you, you can have another recipe.  Prepare the ingredients below and follow the instructions.

  • titanium dioxide in 1/3 tsp
  • boron nitride in 1/3 tsp
  • sericite in 1 tsp
  • zinc oxide in 1 tsp
  • facial silk in 1 tsp
  • mica, white matte in 3 tsps
  • chestnut brown mica in 1/8 tsp
  • mica, chamomile matte in ½ tsp
  • #150 red oxide in 1/16 tsp
  • brown oxide in 1/32 tsp

The process is actually the same as that of the first recipe. Again, just make sure that it is all mixed well.

Just practice these recipes first.  Soon you may be able to create your own mineral foundation blends.  You may also even try making a powder foundation or a mineral blush using the same methods.
