Purchasing costumes can be very expensive especially if you are planning on wearing it only once. If you are going to a Halloween party or any party that requires you to be in a costume, you can create your own costume. This will be cheaper and you will be able to customize the costume based on your style. You can make your very own bunny costume with just a few materials.
Here are the steps on how to create your own bunny costume:
- Materials. For this bunny costume, you will need a sweatpants or a white jumpsuit for the body, headband, pink and white felt paper, needle and thread, glue, ball of white yarn and a pipe cleaners. The jumpsuit will be the body of the bunny, the white yarn will be for the tail and the headband will be used for the ears. You can get a stuffed bunny as your model or you can also research on the Internet for bunny costumes that you can get inspiration from.
- Creating the body of the bunny. For the body of the bunny, all you have to do is sew on the pink felt paper at the middle of the torso area of your jumpsuit. To do this, draw an oval shape on the jumpsuit with a pencil. You can use this as a guide when you sew on the felt paper. Cut that same shape on the pink felt paper and sew it on the jumpsuit. You can also choose to use fabric glue if you do not want to stitch.
- Bunny ears. The next thing you will have to do is the bunny ears. For this, you will need the pink and white felt paper and the pipe cleaner. First, draw 4 bunny ears on the white felt paper. Cut this out. Draw slightly smaller bunny ears on the pink felt paper. You will attach the pink felt paper on the white ears. Paste the pink ears on 2 of the white ears. You will attach the 2 other pairs of ears at the back of the first 2 white ears. Cut the pipe cleaner in half and sandwich each of them between the 2 white ears. This will prevent your ears from falling down when you wear them. When the glue is dry, attach them to your headband using glue.
- Bunny tail. Get the ball of white yarn. Cut out a circular piece of cardboard and put a hole at the middle. Wind the yarn on the cardboard and tie it at the middle when you run out of yarn. You will see loops formed by the yarn. Cut the loops in the middle and you will be left with a pompom shaped yarn. Attach this at the back of your jumpsuit by sewing it.
These are the steps in making your own bunny costume. You can add other embellishments on the body of the bunny if you like. You can also carry a basket full of fake or real carrots for an additional accessory to your costume.
