Busy moms are always trying to find ways to make their lives easier. With work, kids, social obligations and keeping house it can be tough. This simple 3-box method for organizing outgrown baby clothes can take some of the hassle out of a busy mom's life.
You'll Need:
3 cardboard boxes
A black marker
Tape to put together the boxes
The pile of baby clothes
The first thing that needs to be done is to label the boxes so it is known what needs to go in each one. It is a good idea to first mark the boxes so we know what it is. Label each one "___'s outgrown baby clothes." Put your child's name in the blank. Write, "give away" on one box. Write, "sell" on another box. On the last box write, "Throw away." The throw away box is going to be for those clothes that are stained or in disrepair beyond fixing.
It's time to start organizing those outgrown baby clothes! Go through the clothes quickly. First instincts are almost always right. Just put each item into the box that you feel it should go in. Are the clothes brand new and never worn? It might be a good idea to put those in the "sell" box. If the clothes have been worn often they can go into the "give away" box. Does that bib have a huge prune stain on it? Toss it right into the "throw away" box. Take the last box out to the trash and sit them next to your trash or recycling cans. Someone may be able to use the clothes and will take the box instead of sending all of that stuff to the landfill.
Once all the sorting has been done it's time to get those boxes out of the house.
If there is a specific person that can use the "give away" box then take it right over to them. If not, take the box to the local thrift store. Take the "sell" box straight to your office and start posting them on an auction site or local trade and sell site. Some cities also have consignment stores that will accept outgrown baby clothes. Those stores will either let moms bring in their clothes and give them store credit or accept the clothes and give them cash. Put the "throw away" box out at your curb for trash day. Write "free" on the box and someone will pick it up.
