How To Perm Your Hair Straight

You can perm your own hair without the help of professional stylists. This can now be done in the comfort of your own home with the use of perm kits available in many beauty shops. If you want to do this on your own, you need to be careful because you might damage and ruin your hair. This is because you will change the composition of your hair with chemicals to get the style that you want. There are many things you can do to your hair, including straightening naturally curly hair. Follow these instructions to perm your hair straight.

  1. Prepare all the things that you need. This includes the perm kit, plastic hair clips, a rat tail comb, and a mirror. You will also need protection for your hands to keep them from direct contact with the perm chemicals. Use protective gloves.
  2. Wash your hair with shampoo. You need to have your hair clean to make sure you get the effect that you want.
  3. Dry your hair and then apply the pre-perm solution to it. When you are done, rinse your hair well.
  4. Position your hair. For straightening hair, the first thing you need to do is to separate the hair into four parts using the rat tail comb’s pointed part. Keep the four sections in place with hairpins.
  5. Work with one inch portions of your hair starting at the back of your head. Make sure that other parts of your hair won’t get in the way. Use hairpins to keep other hair out of the way while you work on the sections of your hair.
  6. Use protective gloves before applying the perm solution to your hair. Start on the root but be careful not to get too much of the solution on the scalp as it might damage your scalp. Apply generous amounts of the solution to your hair and work your way down to the tip. Remember to keep working on one inch portions of your hair.
  7. Before moving on to the next section of hair, make sure that you smooth out the hair solution up until the end of your hair. Do what you did with the first section of your hair to the rest of the sections.
  8. Let the solution sit for the time written in the instructions of the perm kit. Rinsing your hair too early may cause the solution not to work while rinsing it too late could damage your hair.
  9. Rinse the solution with warm water and wash the solution out of your hair. Use the neutralizing shampoo in the kit to prevent damage to your hair.

Perm is short for permanent, which means the hair that has undergone this procedure will stay that way. The only way to get your natural hair back is to let the hair grow back and cut off the parts affected by the procedure.
