Facial acne is a condition wherein the skin of the face has pimples, whiteheads, blackheads, or in severe acne, cysts. Acne usually hits people during puberty. This is because of the hormonal changes that happen during this stage. Pregnant women and women who have menstruation are also prone to having acne.
There are some things you can do to prevent having an acne breakout on your face. Here are some tips on preventing facial acne:
- Keep your face clean. The simplest thing you can do is to keep your face clean. Wash your face at least two to three times a day. Oil is said to contribute in the production of pimples. Washing your face with mild soap and water will keep your face oil-free.
- Go to the dermatologist. Even if you do not have a severe case of acne, it is advisable to go to the dermatologist at least once a month to have your face cleaned. Facials and other treatments will keep your face free of dirt and also unclog your pores. This is a step that you can take to prevent facial acne. The dermatologist may even prescribe acne creams or Accutane for you to prevent the breakout of pimples and to give you healthier facial skin.
- Remove makeup. One thing that contributes to facial acne is going to bed with makeup on. No matter how tired you are, you should always make sure that you do not go to bed with makeup on. Remove the makeup with a makeup remover solution and wash your face with soap and water. This will prevent you from having clogged pores and irritated skin because of the chemicals contained in makeup. You can also put acne lotion afterwards to prevent acne from appearing on your face.
- Exercise and sleeping habits. One of the main causes of acne is bad sleeping habits. Be sure to get at least eight hours of sleep at night. Keep your hair away from your face when you sleep. Make sure that your pillowcase is clean. Regular exercise can also help in preventing acne. When you exercise, the circulation of the blood is increased and this also has a good effect on your skin. Just remember to wash your face after exercising to prevent bacteria from entering and clogging your pores.
- Do not pop pimples. If you see a pimple, do not try to pop it. Popping pimples will just make them worse. It can be infected and cause a scar on your face. Do not touch pimples, and allow them to disappear on their own. Put pimple creams and ointments on affected areas when you have an outbreak.
These are some of the steps you can take to prevent having pimples. The best trick is to keep your face clean. Another thing you can do is to avoid using hair products that will make your face oily as well. This is one of the leading causes of facial acne. If you can avoid using these products, then do so.
