If Britney Spears and Solange Knowles can do it, you can, too! Male or female, a shaved head commands attention and respect and it's something you can do by yourself in a few minutes. Follow this guide to learn how to shave your head.
Cut off the bulk of your hair with scissors. If you've got a lot of hair to start with, it's easiest to precede your shave with a haircut. You've probably always wanted to hack away at your hair unguarded, and now's your chance. Grab chunks of your hair as close to your scalp as possible and then cut them off. You can't really go wrong with this first step in shaving your head.
Get a good pair of trimmers. You will thank yourself for investing in a good pair of trimmers so you can shave your head. It will only set you back around $50, but the results are absolutely worth it. If you've already got an electric set of trimmers to use, make sure that the blades are sharp. This will save you much time.
Use the lowest setting. Most hair cutting razors come with different-sized guides to cut different lengths of hair. These attach to the base of the electric razor. Lucky for you, you don't need any of these attachments to shave your head. Quite simply, you just need to electric razor and the built-in blade. Don't use any attachments or you won't have a clean shave. Starting at the front of your head with the razor as flat to your head as possible, run it down your head to the nape of your neck. You may need to repeat this several times to remove all of your hair (depending on how sharp your blades are). Continue in straight lines along your entire scalp until you have removed as much hair as possible with the trimmers on the lowest setting.
Finish off with a disposable razor. After you have used the electric shaver to take off as much of your hair as possible, finish up your bald look with a disposable razor. Have some rinsing water close by and use some cream to help the razor glide. Gently run the razor all over your head until not one hair remains.
Moisturize your scalp. Your hair follicles may be dry or raised at this point. Soothe them with some moisturizer or oil.
A shaved head will have to be re-done every few days to maintain the clean and bare look. But just as you shave your face every morning, shaving your head will become part of your daily routine in no time.
