A laser hair removal machine is very common nowadays as an aesthetics treatment to remove permanently unwanted hair in any area of the body. To use it involves a lot of skills on the part of the user. As technology advances, this particular piece of hair eliminator also advances. There are different brands nowadays to choose from, and each brand has different procedures for doing the job.

  1. Alma Lasers. They provide options for laser hair removal. These are the HarmonyXL and SopranoXL. Both provide Alma Laser's patented technology for pain-free hair removal.
    1. HarmonyXL. In the HarmonyXL hand piece the surface of the skin where the hair has to be removed is applied to with a broad-spectrum light emitting from the rectangular window of the hand piece. The energy strikes the hair follicle containing the melanin-rich hair shaft and hair bulb through the epidermis and the dermis. The light is absorbed by the dark colored melanin, destroying the cells that produce hair. The heat does not damage the skin outside the follicle area.
    2. SopranoXL. In the SopranoXL the energy penetrates into the hair follicles through the dermis. It has a repetition rate of 10 pulse-per-second, thus rapidly destroying the cells that produce the hair. Two discrete pulses are present in this hand piece. The first one is a long pulse, which preheats the tissue, while the second pulse, which is a short one, destroys the hair follicle including its surrounding vasculator.
  2. CW Pulse™.  This technology delivers improved patient comfort. It allows uniform distribution and more effective fluence delivered to the patient.
  3. Photoepilation. This is another gadget that is quickly becoming popular. Photothermolysis eliminates the hair without damaging the surrounding areas of the skin. Potential regrowth is also eliminated. During treatment, light is absorbed by the melanin causing the temperature of the hair follicle to increase. This heat destroys the cells that are accountable for the regrowth.

Permanent removal of hair is only said to be true. But in reality, the patient needs to follow up one to two times a year. People differ in their underlying medical conditions. Some have only a single treatment while some do not get any results. This could be attributed to the person carrying out the laser treatment, who may not be a professional, but the laser light just doesn’t work with some people.

It is important that clients know the different features of each gadget. However, using them should be left with the persons whose training focuses on the aesthetic needs of the clients. They are the professionals who could determine why it did not work or why the laser worked. It is not wise to handle an electronic gadget if your knowledge of the machine is only very minimal.
