Spending the day at the ocean can do wonders for your mind, body and spirit. However, with all the sun, sand, and saltwater, what is great for your health can wreak havoc on your beauty routine. Here a few tips to go from sun goddess to gorgeous in no time flat.
First, the beach is no place for tons of hair and makeup products, so when you head out into the surf, the only beauty product necessary is sunscreen. Starting off with a clean canvas will make looking sexy later a much easier process. Make sure to stay hydrated so that skin looks lush all day long.
For woman, the surefire way to look unkept is with messy hair. By definition, beach hair is supposed to be careless and wavy but most people cannot achieve that look on their own. If you have short hair, bring along a bit of pomade or sculpting gel to give it spiky fun look. For women with longer hair, a low side ponytail with the ends left wavy will look effortless and put together. Bring a comb, as it is lighter to pack than a brush and does not create damage to sun and saltwater soaked hair. Pull one side over creating a side part, and then gather the rest of the hair to create a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. The top is smooth and this look is a lot more put-together than a messy knot.
Makeup should be minimal after a day at the beach. Skin is usually parched, so a tinted moisturizer is your best bet to even out skin tone. Apply a light layer and lip gloss and you will look instantly glam. For those who want a bit more day to evening look, invest in a highlighter that can do double duty on cheeks and lips. Find one that is cream based for that dewy straight-from-the-beach look, which will work best on dried-out skin.
Last but certainly not least is attire. Most people make the mistake of looking sloppy when they go to the beach. Shorts and tee shirts or big caftan sized cover-ups over swim suits cannot substitute for real clothing and instantly make you look like something that washed up on the shore. Invest in a light comfortable sundress. It is one piece and can instantly be thrown on over a swimsuit for a more pulled together look.
