Darth Vader is easily one of the most recognizable characters from the Star Wars franchise. Wouldn't it be great to have his costume for Halloween or parties with your friends? Making a Darth Vader costume is a lot easier then you imagined if you follow these steps.
First, you need to gather the supplies you need for the costume. The Darth Vader helmet can be obtained easily at any Halloween supply store or online. Many will come with a voice changer but it's not a requirement.
Now you will need to find some dark clothing. Darth Vader always wears black from head to toe. One important piece you need is a black hooded sweatshirt. You can also use faux leather pants for a more authentic Darth Vader costume. Don't forget to snatch up a black cape somewhere!
Next, find some black motorcycle riding boots and thick riding gloves. Any motorcycle supply shop should have both of these items. No Darth Vader costume is complete without some shiny riding boots.
Now you need a mask to wear under that helmet. A safety mask from any hardware store and a pair of dark sunglasses will work just fine for your costume.
Padding and armor come next. Sports safety equipment is preferred by most people with football armor getting the best results. After all, Darth Vader was a big guy.
The last thing on your list is a light saber. The toy versions of the light saber can be located at any toy store for just a few bucks.
Now that you have all of your supplies, it's time to get that Darth Vader costume on and put together as it should be. This will take about 20 minutes since there are a lot of pieces to the costume.
Put your safety armor on if you chose to wear any, then slip your dark clothing on over all of it. Make adjustments at this time by taping or securing anything that isn't fitting as it should be with black electrical tape.
Next comes the boots and gloves; slip into your motorcycle boots and riding gloves. At this point you should be able to see your inner Darth Vader coming out.
Put on your cape next and then your Darth Vader mask. For the mask, add the safety mask, your dark sunglasses and the hood from your sweatshirt, and then slip on your Darth Vader helmet on top. Your Darth Vader costume is now complete!
