Healthy, long, and silky hair is a desirable asset that most women want to achieve. However, this maybe really challenging and may require a lot of effort. This is because a lot of products you are currently using may have already damaged your hair. Here are some helpful guidelines to help you grow a healthy long hair.

  • Cut off the damaged areas. Daily washing of hair and the chemicals included in the products you use in washing may have already caused damage to your hair. So, if you see brittle and dry ends, it is better to go for a trim so you can cut off the damaged areas and start with undamaged hair. You may regularly go for a trim monthly and cut-off at least half an inch. Remember, the damage always starts at the tip of your hair and trimming will help stop the damage from spreading.
  • Seek the advice of your hair specialist. The best advice you can get is from a trusted hair specialist. Ask for their advice and check if it is possible for you to grow a long healthy hair. You should also be well informed on what to expect on the process. Work with the specialist and explain your goal so you can both do everything necessary to achieve it.
  • Wash your hair every other day. Regular washing of hair will cause more damage to your hair because of the chemicals in the water as well as ingredients used in your hair products. So, it is recommended to wash your hair every other day. You may use a mild shampoo and a good conditioner.
  • Comb and remove tangles. Before washing your hair, you need to comb first and remove the tangles to avoid hair breakage and hair loss. If possible, you can also massage coconut oil to your hair before washing. The nutrients and vitamins in coconut oil will help make your hair healthy and revitalized.
  • Use cold rinse water. In rinsing your hair, it is best to use cold water. Cold water will make the cuticle of your hair lay flat so it will be easier to comb after washing. Using cold water will also make your hair shiny.
  • Stay away from styling products. It is best to stay away from any hair styling product. The chemicals included in these products will ultimately cause damage to your hair. However on special occasions where you are really required to use a styling product, go for the trusted brand.
  • Wash hair thoroughly.  After using the product, you need to wash your hair thoroughly to strip off the chemicals. You should also use a good conditioner to lock in the moisture your hair needs.
  • Do not use hair dryers. Excessive or daily use of hair dryers will cause your hair to be dry and brittle. So if possible, stay away from hair dryers, curling, or straightening irons.
  • Have a healthy diet. Your diet will greatly affect the health of your hair. So if you want to have a healthy hair, you need to maintain a healthy and balanced diet.
