Unpacking is probably the most hated part of moving into a new place. And who would not dread this part? With numerous boxes stashed and furniture everywhere, one's patience and strength will definitely be put to test. Here are a few useful tips to follow to make sure that you get to unpack efficiently after moving.
- Have an idea of what your new home will look like. It is essential that you know exactly how your new place looks even before you move in. Since some furniture and home appliances such as the fridge are bulky, then getting them out of the way on your first day of unpacking will definitely be of great help. Prior to moving in, make sure that you have checked out the place so you can already plan in advance where to put your dining table, couch, bookshelves, and computer table.
- Position the beds next. Needless to say, moving in is quite a taxing job. You would want to secure the beds next just to make sure that you will have a comfortable place to rest at the end of the day. Add in the pillows, bedspreads, blankets, and even your jammies if you want, to complete this stage of unpacking.
- Collect the necessary things that go in the bathroom. Sure, you have a comfortable bed to sleep in after the movers have gone. But what about getting your self cleaned up before you head to bed? Make sure that you set the bathroom up by stocking it with essentials after you have finished setting up the beds. Nothing beats a warm shower after a whole day's move.
- Place boxes in their respective rooms. Boxes of kitchen stuff such as china, silverware, kitchen appliance and interim food supply goes to the kitchen. Books, computer setup and accompanying table, study lamps, and related things have to go to the study. Tools go in the garage, and so on and so forth. Of course, you should have had the boxes labeled properly prior to moving in to accomplish this task properly.
- Get the kitchen set up next. After putting out boxes in their respective areas, then it's just logical to assemble your kitchen next. Everyone will surely get hungry after the initial excitement of moving in to a new home. And without your trusty microwave oven set up at least, then you'll find out just how people act when they're starving. Of course, you can always have pizza delivered, but how about the morning after, right?
Now that all the essentials have been put in place, then all that's needed is for each member of the family to find their own belongings. This way, all of you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your new home, even if it's not fully set up yet.
