Here is a recipe to make mashed potatoes.  Mashed potatoes make a great side dish for almost any occasion.  The ingredients you will need include potatoes, water, garlic, milk, seasoning, butter, cheese, and sour cream.  You will also need a mixing bowl, pot, and spoon/fork/knife.

  1. Boil Potatoes.  Time and heat will vary depending upon the amount and size of potatoes being used.  Parents should always supervise children in the kitchen.

Place potatoes in a pot and bring water to a boil.  Continue to boil potatoes until potatoes are soft.  A fork or knife should be able to easily poke the potato.  Turn off the stove when complete.  Be careful.  Potatoes are very hot!

  2. Mash the Potatoes. Place the potatoes in a bowl and mash the potatoes together.
  3. Mix Ingredients.  If you are making cheese mashed potatoes, cut up small slices of cheese.  Mix the cheese in with the potatoes.  Give it a couple of minutes to melt while the potatoes are still hot to make mixing easier.  Place a couple of tablespoons of garlic into the potatoes and stir.  Add a half of cup of milk to softening the potatoes.  Again, you may need more or less depending on the amount and size of potatoes being used.  Add some Creole seasoning or salt and pepper.  Mix in the desired amount of butter and sour cream.
  4. Serve.  Potatoes are now ready to be served!
