Buying. When buying coffee there are a few very important things to look for. First and foremost you want to buy whole bean coffee, and not already ground coffee. You also want to look for expiration dates. Buy coffee that is far from its expiration date. And finally buy in smaller quantities. You don't need to buy 6 months worth of coffee at a time.
Grinding. Since you are now buying your coffee in the form of whole beans you will need to do the grinding your self. It is very important to not grind all the beans at once. Instead grind the coffee beans just before use, and store the rest.
Storing. There are many different ways to store coffee, and many of them are wrong. One thought is to put your coffee in the freezer for storage. Putting your coffee in the freezer will flatten the taste, and remove the freshness. The best way to store coffee is in a dark cool place. A kitchen cabinet will do just fine.
Brewing. Make sure when you brew your coffee that you only brew the amount of coffee you will drink. Having the coffee sit in the pot for an extended period of time will eliminate the freshness, and make for a less pleasant experience.
Drinking. One way to help ensure freshness for you morning cup of coffee is to pour less. Don't pour a big cup of coffee and have it sit there for an hour, and become cold and stale.
Your day can be determined on how you start it, and one of those parts is that fresh cup of coffee in the morning. Make your morning and day more enjoyable with a fresh cup of joe.
