How To Make a Detox Vegetable Broth

Presently, there has been a lot of talk about the benefits of detoxification.  Cleansing your body and removing its toxins has been a long-term method proven to improve your general health.  Unfortunately, most detoxification methods are not palatable, or can be extremely difficult to perform.  This article, however, will take you through step by step instructions on how to make a delicious and nutritious method: Detox Vegetable Broth.

First, you will want to select your vegetables.  Obviously, you will want to choose vegetables that both appeal to you and are in season.  Some common vegetables often found in detox vegetable broth are: carrots, celery, cabbage, spinach, pumpkin, squash, and mushrooms.  You can select any of the combination of the above, or add any other vegetables that you prefer.  Note that if you want true detox benefits, you will likely want to select organic produce for this broth.

Organic vegetables are grown and produced without any chemical additives (such as insecticides).  This is extremely significant for people intent on beginning a detoxification regime.  The entire point of the regime is to remove toxins from the body - not to add more.  Therefore, selecting vegetables that have been organically grown (and better yet, locally grown) will make your vegetable detox broth more effective.

After you have selected your vegetables, place them in a pot with salted water.  We suggest sea salt, because it provides a safer and healthier level of sodium.  You will want to bring the mixture of vegetables to a boil and continue to cook until all of the vegetables are tender.  Also, as it cooks, continuously check the broth for taste.  Though the vegetables may look done, the broth may not have gotten enough ‘flavor’ yet.  Some quick cooking vegetables, like spinach for example, will take on a wilted over-cooked appearance during the cooking.  This is fine.  It will give your detox vegetable broth more flavor.

Once done, strain the mixture to remove the excess vegetables.  Save the broth and season to taste.

This detox vegetable broth can be taken with meals or taken between meals as a snack.  It provides a low calorie and healthy way to detoxify your body.  It also supplies necessary vitamins and minerals with minimal effort.

As with any healthy regime, be certain that you are consuming an adequate amount of calories as well as essential vitamins and minerals.  You may want to consider taking supplements, or a multi-vitamin, to meet these needs.
