Pizza is a favorite food enjoyed by millions everywhere. But, if you suffer from Celiac Disease or you are gluten intolerant, then you probably don’t get to enjoy pizza much anymore. That doesn’t have to be the case though. I will give you step by step instructions, on how to make a gluten free pizza.
First, you need to gather all of your ingredients together. You want one cup of white rice flour, one cup of tapioca four, rapid rise yeast, one teaspoon guar gum, ¼ cup of sorghum or quinoa flour, two eggs, a dash of sea salt, 1¼ cups warm water, one tablespoon sugar, and 1/8 cup of olive oil. Once you’ve gotten all of your ingredients together, you want to pour the warm water into a bowl. Next, you’re going to add the yeast, sugar, and salt to the water. Stir the mixture and let it sit for five minutes.
The next thing you’re going to do is mix together all of the dry flours and guar gum in a bowl, using a whisk. Once it’s properly mixed, you’ll add the two eggs, oil, and yeast mixture you previously mixed. Stir this all together very well. Your outcome will be a sticky, soft dough. Add extra rice flour while mixing, until the dough can be balled up. It should still be a little sticky. Once you’ve got your ball of dough, coat it with olive oil and transfer it into a large bowl. Cover the bowl with a damp towel, and put it in a warm place. Let the dough rise for about 45 minutes. You can preheat your oven to 450 degrees while you wait.
Once your dough is done rising, split it in half. Grease two round pizza pans. You’re going to pat the dough onto each pan. You can use more olive oil on your hands to keep the dough from getting too sticky. Now, pop the dough in the oven and bake it without toppings for 8-10 minutes. Once the timer goes off, remove the dough from the oven and add your pizza sauce, cheese, and whatever toppings you like. Put them back into the oven, and bake for 15 minutes. After the time is up, remove them and let them cool before slicing.
If you know you’re going to be making pizza sometime in the future, but don’t think you want to wait 45 minutes for the dough to rise, you can make the crust ahead of time. Just let it rise and bake it for the first 8-10 minutes. Once, you take it out, let it cool off thoroughly. You can now wrap it in aluminum foil and freeze it for up to three months. This is one of the easiest recipes to make a gluten free pizza. Once you start eating, you won’t even notice a difference in taste.
