Besides the turkey, a must-have for the perfect Thanksgiving Day meal is the ham. And not just any ham, but a honey baked ham. Now you can go to the local store and buy one of those overpriced honey baked hams, or you can make one yourself. Save some time and money, and enjoy a homemade honey baked ham.
Ready to Eat Ham
¼ Cup Cloves
¼ Cup Dark Corn Syrup
2 Cups Honey
2/3 Cup Butter
Preheat oven. Before you begin to prepare the ham, go ahead and preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Make sure oven is fully preheated before you begin baking process.
Prep ham. Place cloves all over ham. Be sure to spread them out evenly. Once you have loaded the ham with cloves, place the ham in a foil-lined pan.
Make glaze. Place the honey, butter, and corn syrup in a microwaveable mixing bowl, and microwave until butter is soft. Mix the butter, honey, and corn syrup together evenly.
Bake ham. Before putting the ham in the oven, put the first coat of glaze on the ham. Be sure to evenly spread the glaze around ham. Place ham in oven and bake for about 1 hour 15 minutes. Continue to glaze ham every 10-15 minutes while the ham is baking. With about 5 minutes left on the cook time, turn on the broiler. This will help harden or caramelize the glaze for the ham.
Serve. Once you are done baking, take the ham out and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
This is a very simple recipe for a delicious homemade honey baked ham.
