A Sex On The Beach is a tasty tropical-style cocktail. Its array of flavors creates a unique and delicious taste which you are sure to enjoy! As with most cocktail recipes, many variations of this drink may be created. First I will give you a recipe for a traditional (and most common) Sex On The Beach.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz. peach Schnapps
- 1.5 oz. vodka
- 2 oz. cranberry juice
- 2 oz. pineapple juice
Directions
- Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker or mixer.
- Shake or mix.
- Strain into a highball glass filled with ice.
- Serve.
When ordering a Sex On The Beach at a bar, restaurant, or other establishment, you may receive a drink with some slight variation(s) to this traditional recipe. Many bartenders like to be creative, and may make a substitution of an ingredient, or a slight adjustment here or there in order to add a unique touch. When making your own, you may wish to do the same. Here are some popular variations you may wish to consider in order to suit your personal taste.
- Substitute orange juice or grapefruit juice for the pineapple juice.
- Add some Malibu Coconut Rum. This is particularly popular if you are going to stick with the traditional pineapple juice. It's no secret that the pineapple and coconut flavors compliment each other. If you enjoy this combination in other drinks, why not add a little here? One ounce of Coconut Rum should be sufficient in giving you this desired flavor.
- Add 1/4 ounce Chambord. While some Sex On The Beach recipes may call for Chambord, most bartenders will omit it due to its relatively high cost. It will add a little more kick. If you decide to add some, be prepared to pay a little extra for your cocktail.

David, after reading your recipe article I'm just sorry that I'm not out frequenting my favorite watering hole. *sigh* I esp. liked your idea of substituting grapefruit juice for pineapple--I may just need to try that!
