Difficulty: Easy
Cost: $1-$50

Still looking for a gift for your child's teacher? Perhaps you would like to give your neighbor a little something too? What about your preacher at church? Is there anyone else you have forgotten?

Here is a very simple, yet delectable gift idea for those people that can be a little tricky to buy for. Follow these steps to make Beautiful, Buttery, Graham Cracker Toffee Bars -- a deliciously simple holiday treat!

  1. Collect your ingredients. For one batch (although I usually, double and triple it!), you will need the following:
    • 20-25 graham crackers
    • 1 and a half sticks of butter
    • 3/4 cup of brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
    • 1/2 cup of chopped pecans
  2. Arrange your graham crackers. Lay your graham crackers across the bottom of a jellyroll pan side by side. They should not overlap.
  3. Prepare the buttery toffee topping. Melt the butter in a medium sauce pan, and add the brown sugar. Bring this mixture to a boil, using medium heat, while stirring constantly. Once it has reached a boil, stir in the vanilla and pecans.
  4. Pour the topping. Pour all of the buttery toffee mixture over the crackers. Spread it evenly, so that all of the crackers are adequately covered.
  5. Bake the bars. Bake the bars for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove the bars from the pan, and let them cool on parchment paper. When they are cool, break them into smaller pieces.

Sound ridiculously simple? It is, I promise! And they taste "oh, so good!" Your lucky gift-recipients will not only thank you repeatedly... they will be begging you for the recipe! Enjoy!
