Peanut butter is a sandwich spread made from roasted peanuts. It is one of the favorite foods of children and adults worldwide and used in bread, pasta, meat, vegetables and sauces. The first patent for peanut butter was released in the 1800s but many claims pertaining to its origin date back as far as 1500s.

However in 1922, Joseph L. Rosefield was issued the first patent for a shelf-stable peanut butter, the kind of peanut butter which we enjoy today. One of the first brands that adapted the same style was Peter Pan Peanut Butter which remains to this day America's much loved sandwich spread.
