Breakfast can often become a boring routine, so why not wake up your taste buds by enjoying some French toast...with a twist? Here's how you make them!
Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread (white gets the best results)
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of milk
- ¾ cup of flour
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- Cinnamon powder
- Butter or margarine
- Syrup (maple or table)
Cooking tools
- 1 frying pan
- 1 large mixing bowl
- 1 spatula
- 1 wooden spoon
- 1 whisk
- 1 large bowl (for dipping the slices of bread)
- 1 soup ladle
Preparation
- Mix the egg, the salt, the sugar, the vanilla and the baking powder with a whisk until homogeneous.
- Gradually add small quantities of milk and flour while mixing until all milk and flour have been used and the mix is homogeneous and without any lumps.
- Pour a small quantity of the mix in the dipping bowl with a soup ladle.
Cooking time
- Preheat the frying pan on high heat and coat it with butter or margarine.
- Dip a slice of bread into the mix so both sides are fully covered.
- Lift up the slice of bread with your spatula and sprinkle the top with a bit of cinnamon powder.
- Once the butter or margarine has melted, put the slice of bread into the frying pan, with the side sprinkled with cinnamon, face down.
- Lower the heat to medium-high. Sprinkle the top side of the slice of bread with cinnamon powder.
- Check frequently the side down to avoid burning and turn the French toast when the down side is golden brown.
- When the down side is cooked, flip the French toast on the other side and grill it until it reaches a golden brown colour.
- Once cooked, serve with a generous coating of maple or table syrup on top.
- Enjoy!
- Repeat the previous steps as this portion makes up to 4 servings of French toast.
Once you taste some French toast with a twist, the twist being the delicious cinnamon, your taste buds will beg for more. Enjoy!

You've really nailed this one! I am usually much too lazy to cook for myself, but being Sunday morning; I had the time and decided to give it a whirl. I'm sure glad I stumbled upon this recipe, because it is mighty tasty!
