Learn a simple and straightforward recipe for how to make your own homemade mustard. From hot dogs to burgers to salad dressings, mustard can be used in a variety of ways and is one of America's favorite condiments. Use the following recipe to create a batch of your own freshly-made mustard.
Gather your ingredients.
You will need the following ingredients to make mustard:
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard powder/flour
- 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 Tbsp yellow mustard seed (ground)
- 3/4 tsp salt
Grind and combine the mustard.
Grind the mustard seed until you have 2 Tbsp worth of it. For a more grainy mustard, simply don't grind the seed as much. Leaving bigger chunks will create a unique texture, but may not allow for a uniform flavor.
Combine the ground mustard with the mustard powder and water and mix thoroughly.
Add in the vinegar and salt.
After the mixture has sat for about 8-10 minutes, stir in the apple cider vinegar and salt. Blend the mixture until it is completely mixed. For the best taste, put the mustard in the refrigerator overnight before eating.
