You don't need to wait until summertime to enjoy the wonderful combination of chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallow – savor it anytime of the year with S'more Pie.
“S'mores” were made popular by campers trying to find a way to eat roasted marshmallows which become very sticky once melted and browned. By putting the roasted marshmallow between two pieces of graham cracker, then adding a piece a chocolate, the traditional s'more was created – because who didn't want “some more” once they had the first one?
There are two ways to make this recipe; a) making a homemade crust, or b) purchasing a pre-made Graham cracker crust. If you go with a pre-made crust, you will not need the first three ingredients.
You will need:
- 9” pie plate
- Rolling pin
- Waxed paper
- 2 bowls
- Whisk
Ingredients:
- 18-20 Graham cracker rectangles
- 1/3 cup butter
- 3 T sugar
- 25-30 miniature marshmallows
- 1 large box of instant chocolate pudding
- 2 ½ cups cold milk
Make crust:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Place 5-6 cracker Graham cracker rectangles in a large plastic bag and create crumbs for the crust by crushing them with a rolling pin.
- Repeat until all crackers are made into crumbs.
- In one of the bowls, combine crumbs, melted butter, and sugar until moist.
- Press mixture into pie plate (it will be a thick crust, but press down as much as possible) by placing a piece of waxed paper over crumbs and pressing hard. (Hint: To create a more uniform crust, take a second 9” pie plate and press on top of waxed paper to form crust.)
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven, and change bake to broil.
Create pie:
- While crust is baking, make pudding as indicated in the directions on the box.
- Line crust with miniature marshmallows.
- Place under broil for 1-2 minutes, or until marshmallows start to brown.
- Remove from oven.
- Pour pudding over marshmallows.
- Cool in refrigerator.
