This recipe outlines a simple method of creating your very own homemade sour cream. All that you need is a few ingredients and you will be well on your way.
Step 1:

Gather your ingredients. For this recipe you need the following ingredients:

  • 2 cups (1 pint) of table cream
  • 2 tablespoons of cultured buttermilk
Step 2:

Mix the ingredients. Simply pour the table cream into a large bowl and then stir in the buttermilk. After you are done mixing the two ingredients together, cover the bowl.

Step 3:

Let the mixture sit. Place the mixture in a warm location (about 75 degrees F) and let it sit out for 24 hours. You should look at it towards the end of the time just to check on the consistency. Your final product will be a soft mass that is somewhat similar to jelly. If the final mixture is too runny for your liking, simply drain it using a cheese cloth.

Sour cream is actually a very easy recipe to make. Hopefully this will add a nice homemade touch to your next meal!
Quick Tips:
Remember that homemade sour cream doesn't last as long as the store-bought variety. Eat it up quickly!
