Difficulty: Very Easy
Cost: $1-$50

In this article you will learn how to prepare a Brazilian traditional drink called "Caipirinha". It's very easy to prepare and very refreshing -- great for hot days.

  1. Wash 2 lemons. Wash 2 lemons in current cold water.
  2. Peel the lemons. Use your hands or a peeler if available to take the skin of the lemons.
  3. Cut the lemons in four pieces and put them in a glass. Use a knife to cut the lemons in half and then in four and put them into a cup.
  4. Add sugar and muddle. Add five teaspoons of sugar and muddle using a muddler or wooden spoon.
  5. Add cachaça. Add enough cachaça to almost fill the glass, leaving room for the ice.
  6. Mix. Use two glasses firmly pressed together or a shaker if available.
  7. Add ice. Add as much ice cubes as you like and enjoy.

Even though in Brazil this drink is usually made with "cachaça", it can also be made using vodka (with vodka, it's called a Caiprissima). If you want to serve it without the sugar, you can, but it's a bit sour. It's also a great drink for parties and can also be made with other fruits such as lime, kiwi, pineapple, strawberry and practically any tropical fruits you can imagine.
