Refresh Yourself the Old-Fashioned Way

Difficulty: Very Easy
Cost: $1-$50

Now that summer is here, you need something to cool yourself off when facing scorching temperatures. The best way that I know of is to make yourself some old-fashioned popsicles. Popsicles are inexpensive, easy and relatively quick, so why not refresh yourself with a cold, tasty treat? How can you make those old-fashioned popsicles? Simply follow these instructions and you will soon find your way to ultimate refreshment!

Ingredients and materials:

  • Juice (concentrated or freshly squeezed are healthier choices)
  • Popsicle trays (4+)
  • A large measuring cup (2 cups)
  • Freezer

Instructions:

  1. Select the juice of your choice (fruit juice such as Kool-Aid is cheaper but concentrated or freshly squeezed choices are healthier)
  2. Open the lids of the popsicle trays.
  3. Fill the popsicle trays with juice but not too high, as you must have enough space to put the lids back on the trays.
  4. Put the lids back on the popsicle trays.
  5. Put your popsicles in the freezer for a minimum of 2 hours.
  6. Take a popsicle out of a tray and...enjoy!

Tips:

  • Do not "check" on your popsicles until at least 2 hours, as opening the freezer raises the temperature, slowing down the freezing process (which means delaying the "tasting process" at least 15 minutes every time that you "check").
  • Each time that you enjoy a popsicle, wash and refill the tray with juice, as it will prevent you from dealing with the absence of popsicles on a scorching day.
  • Always keep at least two sets of 4 popsicle trays in the freezer, as it will allow you to feed several family members and friends at once.

As you can see, making old-fashioned popsicles is as easy as 1-2-3! Treat your loved ones and yourself to these tasty frozen treats on a hot summer day. Once you do, you will not go back to the store to get some, as yours will be much cheaper and a lot healthier. Enjoy!
