Male 1 Hey, everyone and welcome to BFX. This week we are bringing you our most ambitious built gate. The radio controlled camera pod. [Music Playing] Because this episode is sponsored by the upcoming film 21 I wanted to pull out all the stops. One of the main themes in this film is the eye in the sky and here to tell you about it is 21 star and close personal friend, Kate Bosworth. Female: The Casino is always watching. You have heard the Einstein that is what they call those cameras that hanging from the ceilings, thousands of them, everywhere but the bathrooms and the hotel suits. Those cameras are always on. Male 1: Okay, thanks Kate, see you later. So I am going to show you how to build a rig that will replicate these cool shots. But first let us have Gary spin the wheel to determine our budget. Alright, $40 that means I need to get some remote control cars and we need to check out this trailer from 21. [Trailer Playing] [Music Playing] Male 1: Two remote control cars, two wooden disks, scrap wood, two rheostats and some wiring. The biggest challenge with this build is making the little RC motor spin around two to four rpm’s, when they want to spin around 2000. A lot of trial and error the solution was to use these wooden wheels and I found in the trash as a type of fly wheel and then wire in a rheostats. So the basic idea is based, fly wheel motor assembly one for pan, assembly two for tilt, camera and then rotate the whole thing in mount. The first step is to take apart the car and cut away all the necessary parts. All we need is the battery pack, circuitry and rear wheels. Next carefully wire in the rheostats in line between the circuitry and the motor. Motor and fly wheel assembly one will be mounted into a two by four then to the base. The other will be mounted to a one by three and attached to the first fly wheel assembly. Use faucet washers and bolts to attach the car wheels to the center of the wooden fly wheel. The tricky part is getting everything balanced and making sure that the wires do not get snagged. Finish up with this beefy paint job. And do not forget this baby is totally remote control. [Music Playing] Here are few mounting tips. I would recommend using screws to attach the rig tool wooden structure you would do not care about like the rafters on your garage. Detach everything but the base, screw that in place then attach everything else. This is a light rig so choose your camera accordingly. We tested it with my point and shoot camera but ended up using compact mini DV camera connected to an old TV that we used as an external monitor. [Music Playing] Male 1: Welcome to the underground world of illegal board games. Connect four hungry, hungry hippos, operation, name-a-children’s game and chances are you can play them here with real money and real risks. There are extra risks for me because I cheat and I just got caught. [Music Playing] Male 1: What the… Child 1: No, turn that camera around. I do not want this on tape. Child 2: you stole a lot of money from us on candy, candy land. We want it back so we are going to play a game you can not cheat at. Child 1: If you win you walk out of here alive and never come back but if you lose I will let Mickey play operation on your guts. Child 2: So what ship or do you want? Male 1: I will take Henry. [Music Playing] Male 1: Hippo steroids, works every time. Once a cheater, always a cheater. Male 2: I hope every one liked this project, it made me rock my brain, cry and bleed. [Demo Playing] And remember to check out 21 in theaters March 28. To get that cool security camera look you could either re shoot your footage to an old TV or use the final cut filter bat TV. Male 2: Indy Mogul is brought to your by 21 staring Jim Sturgess and Kate Bosworth in theaters March 28.
