Today, I am going to share with you a really fun technique. Today, we are doing a photoshop facelift. [Music Playing] Hello my little love birds! Tanya Tko here and most of you know me as a blogger on Youtube, who is also a world traveler. And, today I am going to share with you a secret of how I am able to travel the world. I am a free lance graphic designer. And today, I am going to share with you a really fun technique. Today, we are doing a photoshop facelift. Now, just a little bit of background on me, I have been a graphic designer for about six years. And, what I do is, I take my computer with me on the road and I go to different countries, any country that has internet access, I design, I upload my designs, I get paid, and I am able to travel for another week or so, or two or three weeks, you know. But, anyway let us get back to the tutorial. This is my very first tutorial that I am doing and I am self taught. I taught myself how to use photoshop. I have taught myself how to design, but I did have some help. I read a lot of books and I also did online tutorials from people who were kind enough to share this skills. And, I remember when I was younger; I was like, “Wow! I am getting this tutorial for free and I really could not believe it. So, listen, this tutorial is free for you, so please when you get good, give back and do a free tutorial for somebody else, okay? And then also, I want you guys to show off some of your skills, as well and I want you to attach your videos after you learn this technique today of how to do a photoshop facelift. Now, let us start by looking at this woman right here. Now, how old would you say this woman is? Maybe 35, 40, or so? Well, how would you feel I told you that just moments ago, she used to be 70. So, let me show you it before what we are going to be working with, okay? This is the before, so as you can see she is about 70 years old in this picture. She does have some wrinkling going on her face. I mean she is a beautiful woman, yes. Lovely smile, but she has a little bit of wrinkles, I am going to show you a technique that we can do to just do more than just youthen her up. We are going to entirely lift this face and that is what is going to end up, looking like. So, let us get started. We are going to this in under ten minutes. So, let me get my timer started. I have to put on a timer, because I love to design so much that if I do not put a timer on, I will be designing all day, and all night and I would not even realize it. So, just to stay within a time constraint and to challenge myself a little bit, we are going to do this in under ten minutes. So, let us get ready to rumble people! Let me get this timer started, here we go, ten minutes on the clock. So, let us move really quickly. Let us turn this off. First and foremost, what we want to do is we always want to duplicate our original layer. We never want to mess with our original layer, let me get this underneath here. Because, if we make a mistake, we do not have any way to return back to, when you are experimenting, you will see exactly what I mean. So, we are going to just put that on its own layer and we are going to hide that. So, now this layer is going to be our working layer and we are just going to duplicate that. And, what we are going to do is we are going to create a blur, just to soften up her skin. So, we are going to go up here to filter and there are two different types of blurs that we can do or three different types of blurs. No, actually there is really only two, the blur that were most used too is probably Gaussian blur. And, with the Gaussian blur, as you can see, the edges also become blurry, like we can go further and further up. And, her skin will get blur, but so the entire image and that is just no good for us. So, we are going to go back to filter and the tool that we can use for this is going to be a smart blur and surface blur. With the surface blur, I notice that when we get a little further up in the numbers that it does not maintain the edges, as well. But, with the surface blur, you could actually see what you doing, while you are doing it. It will show up on a larger picture. Let us go to filter-blur-smart blur and we are going to--as you see, the edges--her eyes get a little bit blurry. We are going to clean that up afterwards, but as you see the edges stay intact. I have the radius at 6 and 26 and I want you to experiment the quality as low, the mode is normal, see what happens when you click on high mode? You see, it completely deteriorates, but you might need that water color look for something else. See what happens when you click on overlay or some of the other ones? See what happens when you change the threshold and those numbers? Just an experiment, really that is how I learned. So, I am going to click okay on 6 and 26. Six radius, 26 threshold and now so we have a softer flow on her face, but as you noticed, her eye lashes and her lips have completely gone soft on us. So, what we are going to do is we are going to just erase that. Come over here to the tool pallete, click on the eraser option, and we are going to just make our eraser--a descent size. Hardness is going to be 0, because we want those edges to be soft, so what we are going to do is we are going to just erase inside of her eyes, just sharpen up those edges over there. Erase in both of her eyes. [Demo] Erase both eyes and erase the mouth, so what we are doing is we are erasing the top layer and the original layer with her original teeth and her lip line, because we definitely want to keep our lines crisp, because we do not want her to get cartoonish. Okay, so now what we are going to do is we are going to come back over here to the tool pallete. Comeback over to the tool pallete and click on Patch and you see the patch tool. This is what we are going to use from most of our wrinkle fixing and what the patch tool does is it highlights an area and inside that area it will take over the characteristics of whatever you drag it to. So, I noticed that this works best when you go to small areas at a time, when you do just a little bit, click and patch, click and patch. Now, we can use the rubber stamp, the rubber stamp is also an option that we can use, but for right now, we are going to use the smart blur. Experiment with the rubber stamp, it has its strength and weaknesses. One thing that this patch tool will do is it will make your drag more congruent by blending for you that is what it will do, it will blend. So, here we have her (that is a little too big) okay, so we have about 4 minutes left on our tutorial and we are just going to drag and patch, drag and patch, drag and patch…Okay, we are going to come up to the forehead or to her wrinkled area, right here. And, we are just going to use a nice smooth spot on the forehead. That may have been too much, that is too much we took away from there. I am just going to go and undo that, yes we did too much right there. So, let me just close this back up and just--remember, I said it is better if you do it small and work your way up? Okay, we got 3 minutes, 34 seconds left. [Demo] Let us just--we are going to do the eyes in just a little bit. I would like to use a different technique for the eyes. [Demo] Okay, so there we have it. This is our patch work that we have done. Our patch work and so, there we go. So, what we are going to do now is we are just going to fix up the eye area. We are going to create a new layer, and I suggest that whenever you start doing the makeup, you put it on a new layer, use your key port for shortcut, press “I” to grab a color. I am going to grab a color right outside of her eye. And, we are going to make sure that our hardness is on zero, right now we are using an opacity of 23. And, we are just going to do this, like we do some make-up at home. We are just going to go around her eyes and just do it, like we do it at home, if we are putting make up in the mirror, we would just go around. And, another great thing about using layers is if you make a mistake, you can just erase it. If you are doing this right on top of the picture, you are not be able to erase that. Let us go back over to the tool area, right here. And, we are going to click on the smudge. For the smudge we want our hardness to be a little bit more, we are going to have 84% hardness. My diameter is 62 and which is going to smudge her chin. I am sorry, make sure you are on the layer, how about that? I was looking at the eye layer still. Let us go back to the fact layer. And, we are going to smudge that chin up and to a defined line. That is what we are going to do, let me change my hardness, right now I have decrease the hardness to--just give more of a blend and we have definition for her chin. And, we are going to comeback later and we are going to ear brush her neck to just soften that up a little bit. But, right now let me do a new layer and named this forehead. [Demo] And, just grab a little bit and just paint on her forehead, just a little bit of make up and just--there we go. And then, let us just do a little quick, we have 20 second left, and let us just do the chin really quickly. Grab a color from underneath here and just brush underneath to crate a shadow or the illusion of the shadow, rather. Okay, and there we have it. And, under ten minutes or just about ten minutes, we have--let us put these all in one layer, so we can see before and the after. This is the after and this is the before.
