The Cocktail Spirit This easy to make drink, is not only full of great flavors, and a wonderfully refreshing drink during the summer. Lower in alcohol content than most drinks it is a good introduction cocktails.

The Pimm’s Cup, a delightfully refreshing cocktail that is unfortunately more popular in England and it is here in America. Maybe we can change that. [Music playing] Welcome to the cocktail spirit from small screen network. I am your host Robert Hess. Quite often when you are not drinking, you sometimes want a drink that is it not quite as strong as a standard cocktail. In such a case one of my favorite is called Pimm’s Cup. It is also really excellent cocktail for people who just wanting to get started in understanding what a mixed drink might taste like. It is very simply made with just Pimm’s No.1 and lemonade. Lemonade? Well, that is what the books will say when you are reading them that come from England. They say Pimm’s are number one in lemonade. You have to remember over there, their lemonade is not the same thing as the American lemonade. Over there the use lemonade to refer to what we would call lemon lime soda popularly known as 7Up. Myself, I like the drink with ginger ale instead. I think it has more spicy flavor to it so that is the way I am going to make it. Let us take a look. We started off with Pimm’s No.1. This is not something you might commonly have in your liquor cabinet or if you do you never really quite know what to do with it. A nice thing about it, it is only 25% alcohol so, it is got a much lower alcohol level than in general most of the base spirits which it will make as a lighter style drink. We are going to put two ounces into highball glass. And now we are going to add our ice. Let us take it still there and then we are going to top off with ginger ale. This is one of those drinks the larger the glass you use or smaller the glass you use can help concentrate the flavors. You kind of just from your stand point. Now, quite often you might this in some of older cocktail books as being the garnish with fruits and seasons in which case you have it in a big wine goblet and whatever sort of fruits you might want to use or put on to it but these days it has become more common to garnish this with a piece of cucumber. So, I am just going to take and cut my cucumber here into a spear. Put it in the glass like that and then serve with straws. And then we have the delightfully refreshing and low alcohol, recently low alcohol drink called the Pimm’s Cup.
