There are many drills that you can do to warm up your boys and please use those that you feel comfortable with. We are going to show you a core set of drills that we feel very comfortable with that enable our boys to get in good shape in the shortest amount of time. [Music Playing] This next drill we call break downs, it is a drill that helps condition the legs, backs of the legs, front of the legs, and it also help stretch out the back and lower leg muscles so that we can get coordinated. [Music Playing] Break down. Hit! [Music Playing] Next group. [Music Playing] Break down. Hit! This is a drill you want to do slow, you want the players to sit down and stretch those legs. Coming back, break down, hit! [Music Playing] In the game of football, speed is very important. You must know the abilities of your players so you could select them for the proper positions. The game of football is basically a 40-yard game. So I take and use the 40-yard sprint so I can time my players so I can tell what positions I am able to put them into. Down, set, hit! Push it, push it, push it, let us go. Everybody all the way through, all the way through, all the way through. Nice hash guys. Nice job, gentlemen, nice job. [Music Playing] One of the drills that is very important is you got to have your players with good leg stamina. I found out that running stairs is one of the best exercises that you can do for your boys. You can do that either at bleachers, find a stair in a school or if you can find a good hill. A good hill for a practice field works very good. Okay, gentlemen, here we go. When I tap you on the shoulders, take off and go. Go! Go! Go! Go! Touch them all. Touch them all. Pick them up, put them down. Every step, every step. Easy coming down make sure that you do not fall. Every step, hit every step. Drill does not do you any good if you do not hit every step. [Music Playing] In the game of football, it is very important that we have our necks strengthened. So we use this drill so that we can loosen up the neck and also strengthen the neck because they are carrying around that heavy helmet. Count them out guys. You are starting out with a helmet, the boys pushing on the inside leg, cut the boys, helmet on, he is coming up, he is pushing up, giving a resistance to the back of the neck, he will then go to a right leg. Everybody put their helmet on their right leg, he will push on the right, strengthen up the right side of the neck. Okay guys, everybody go to the left, left leg, push now on the left. Now everybody take their hands and put it down underneath the helmet, and we will pull up and we will strengthen the neck from all four positions. Very important that at every practice you go through this drill, you do not want to have any neck injuries. [Music Playing] Some of the drills that you want to do in pre-conditioning, we are going to show you something right now and we want to start out with the sit-ups. Okay guys, everybody down, I will say “up”. Everybody holler brave, give me a good ten sit-ups. Everybody ready, up, up, up, up, up. Okay here we go, everybody down, everybody down, up, up, stay down until I say “up”, up, up, up. [Music Playing]
