Do you want to pamper yourself, but you don’t have the time or the money to go to the spa? Do-it-yourself home spa treatments are a lot easier to pull off than you think. Everything you need is in your kitchen.
- For instance, if you want to have a good antioxidant face mask, you won’t need to spend dozens of dollars for a chemical paste to smear on your face. Instead, grab a few strawberries from your fridge. Strawberries are naturally rich in antioxidants, and with the proper preparation, you can apply them to your face. All you have to do is mash around ¼ cups of ripe strawberries and mix in a teaspoon of honey. Smooth the paste onto your skin and leave in on for roughly 20 minutes. When you wash it off, you’ll notice your skin looks and feels more youthful.
- Perhaps you’d like to moisturize your skin as well. Another face mask you can make for that consists of eggs and oatmeal. Egg yolks are rich sources of water and fat, which are effective in moisturizing those dry areas on your face. The oatmeal will soothe any puffy areas on your face. What you’ll need to do is put 1/3 cup oatmeal into a blender and grind it into a very fine powder. Add one egg yolk and blend it all into a smooth paste. Leave the mixture on your face for about 15 minutes and rinse it off with warm water.
- Speaking of puffy areas on your face, do you happen to have a problem with puffy eyes? Calm the skin around them by applying chilled cucumber slices over them for fifteen minutes. The cucumber will act as an anti-inflammatory agent—great for the mornings after those sleepless nights!
- A milk bath will do wonders for moisturizing your skin—just ask Cleopatra, who used to bathe in milk to preserve her legendary beauty. All you have to do is add about 3 to 4 cups of fresh milk to a running bath. Once the milk is well-blended with the water, enjoy a nice, long soak in the tub. You’ll need to stay in the bath for around twenty minutes for the milk to kick in. For added pleasure, try mixing a few drops of aromatherapy essential oils to the bath. After your relaxing dip, rinse off with a warm shower.
- You might want to exfoliate after your bath. You can do that with a good brown sugar scrub. Mix half a cup of brown sugar and ¼ cup honey into a nice paste. Rub the mixture all over your body, stimulating your skin and smooth out the rough spots. Rinse it off with cool water and enjoy your smooth, sweet skin.
- If you’re relaxing your body, you may as well relax your hair. Get rid of the frizz by combining ½ cup hair conditioner, ¼ cup honey, and a tablespoon of almond oil and massage the concoction into damp hair. Leave it to work its magic for 20 minutes, and then rinse it out. You’ll find that your hair is well-moisturized and a lot tamer.
