Foundations Funding Cancer Research in America

Cancer is a disease which can strike anyone. Breast cancer, kidney cancer and other types of cancer have caused innumerable deaths. It is a painful and traumatizing ordeal for its victims. This is why researchers continue to work to develop new treatments and approaches toward fighting this disease.  Some of these research the possible causes and and try to find a cure for cancer. These foundations provide funds for the ongoing innovations in the fight against cancer.  Some of the best-known American foundations which fund cancer research are:

1. American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).  This organization aims to help prevent and cure cancer by investing in different studies concerning cancer and other biomedical fields related to this family of diseases. It began as early as 1907. Its ultimate aim is to develop a cure for all types of cancers.
4. American Institute for Cancer Research. This organization started in 1982 and has been a leading cancer charity group; they investigate the relationship between diet and the occurrence of cancer. The organization provides funds for research studies that center around diet as one impact factor in preventing or developing cancer. It has already dedicated more than $82 million for this kind of research. It also carries out different public awareness programs centered around cancer prevention.

Other than these groups, there are also foundations that specialize in certain cancer types. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation helps provide funding for studies that focus on finding innovative solutions and preventive measures for breast cancer. This group also promotes breast cancer awareness programs, as this disease has been one of the most common types of cancer in women.
