How Rapid Detox Works

Detox or detoxification is the process of eliminating toxins and harmful substances from the body. Detoxification is a treatment done to drug addicts and people who are dependent on drugs and other harmful substances. Every patient that enters into a rehabilitation program undergoes detoxification. The normal detoxification procedure is hard for the patient as there are withdrawal symptoms that come with it. An alternative to this is the rapid detox.

Here is how rapid detox works:

  1. Traditional Detoxification Treatment - The traditional detoxification treatment entails having the patient get off the drugs abruptly. The onset of withdrawal symptoms may be more harmful to the patient and the craving of the patient because the drugs increase over time. According to some studies, the majority of the people who undergo the traditional detox treatment go into relapse and start using drugs again.
  2. Addiction Treated with Rapid Detox - Rapid detox is an alternative to the traditional detox treatment. Rapid detox works on people who are addicted to prescription painkillers, heroin, Oxycontin, Suboxone, Vicodin, Hydrocodone or any other type of opioid that the patient may be addicted to.
  3. The Waismann Method - The Waismann Method is the method mostly used in rapid detox. It was invented by Dr. Andre Waismann in 1994 and has been proved to be effective in the detoxification process. The Waisman Method is also called the One Step Program or the ABNR (Accelerated Benzodiazepine Neuroregulation).
  4. How the Treatment Works - The Waismann Method takes place in 5 to 7 days. On the first day, the patient will be screened and evaluated. Your weight is taken and your medical history reviewed. If there are pre-medications needed for the patient, they give it on the first day. On the second day, the detox treatment is done. You will be given anesthesia and opiate blockers to start the detoxification process. During the process, you will stay asleep. After the treatment, you will be placed in the ICU for a few days. Your body is already free from the toxins at this point. You condition will be monitored and you are going to be released if you are stable enough.
  5. Follow Up - For people who under go the Waismann Method, you will have to go to the hospital for weekly check ups. This will ensure that you are coping well after the procedure. You can stop going to check ups when your doctor is certain that you are well. The doctor can help you with your diet or some activities that you can do.
  6. Benefits - One of the benefits of undergoing a rapid detox is that you will not be able to experience the detoxification process when you are awake. The detoxification process is done in a few hours rather that several weeks. During those hours, you will not be conscious so you will not remember going through detoxification. There are other rewards that come with this process.

This is how rapid detoxification works. The method is ideal for people who are heavily addicted to drugs but do not know how to quit. It is an effective method of cleansing and freeing the body from harmful toxins. Not a lot of people go through this process as it is very expensive.
