Most, if not all enjoy eating. Nothing beats the feeling of the rich flavors of delicious food bursting in your mouth or that frothy ice café drink soothing down your parched throat. However, taking anything in excess leads to heartburn pain. Heartburn pain should not stay with you long. You can manage it with the right knowledge. If heartburn pain is allowed to linger it can worsen into acid reflux. Here are some tips that will help you stop heartburn pain early.

  • Junk the junk food. No matter what diet you are in vegan or all meat, eating junk food means you are harming your self. It is called junk food for a reason. With little benefit save for the rich and tasty flavor, junk food gives you the toxicity of MSG. So the next time you are planning to munch on that bag of chips think again.
  • Drink to health. After dumping that big sack of yummy salty chips, sweet chocolate bars, chocolate candies, donuts, ice cream, fried finger foods, cookies and brownies on to the next culprit of heartburn pain. It is time to safe guard your self from juices like orange, lemon, grapefruit, tomato and cranberry. They are healthy true, but if taken in excess they will most definitely lead to heartburn pain. These beverages and as well as foods like red meat, chili, spicy foods, onions and salad dressings are common causes of heartburn pain. Each person has a different affinity per food. So learn and find out which food and drink you are more acidic to.
  • Round them up. To better combat heartburn pain make a list or a food journal. In your food journal, diary if you are a guy, jot down what you have eaten and drank. In doing so you will be able to monitor how your body reacted to what you have ingested. You can also list down the food that you are allergic to. Remember knowing is half the battle.
  • Cut it and dice it. Eating of large pieces of meats in one meal is a sure fire way to get heartburn pain. Instead of eating it in one sitting. It is better to eat a few meals with smaller servings.
  • Off the couch you go. Most have this nasty habit of lounging on the couch in front of the TV after one full meal. Try moving around for a bit. It does not call for a rigorous exercise routine. Just avoid sinking into that couch.
  • Chew, chew, chew. Even if you have been starving for more than an hour, chew your food well. Eating slowly and thorough chewing helps the process of digestion. So take it easy to avoid the heartburn pain.
  • What the fat?! Fat also contributes to the build up to heartburn pain. Excess fat on the stomach results to pressure that causes pain. It is best that you maintain your proper weight through exercise and the right diet.
  • When there’s smoke, there’s pain. Smoking is another vice that leads to heartburn pain.

Heartburn pain is a lifestyle-based illness. It is the simple things that cause the pain, but in the same way it is the little things that will keep you healthy and well.
