Many people are raving about how Pilates has strengthened the different areas of their bodies and how it is so easy to do. They even claim that once you have the fundamentals down pat, you need not take classes or enroll in a gym. These claims are actually very true. One major reason why Pilates has caught on like wildfire is because of the fact that you can do Pilates anywhere, at the gym, office, or home. Yes, all you need is the right equipment, the right foundation, and the right knowledge. Here are some tips on how to bring and do Pilates at home.
- Take a class. It will actually be difficult for you to do Pilates at home if you don’t know how to do it. Correct form is integral in achieving results with any type of Pilates exercise. That said you would definitely want to at least learn the basics and fundamental forms and exercises in the discipline before you can take it home. To do this, you may want to consider enrolling in a Pilates class. Attend a few sessions and really feel and observe the different exercises and forms needed to do it right. This will provide you with enough know-how to enable you do the exercises correctly at home.
- Purchase the basics. To start with, you will need to purchase a few items to make your home Pilates workout much more enjoyable and efficient. First and foremost, you will want to get a mat. Aside from that, you may want to invest in right clothing such as a sports bra and sweats. Thirdly, you should never do Pilates without the basic equipment, the Pilates ball. Finally, you may want to purchase a nice training video in Pilates to serve as a guide as you go through each and every exercise you think you can benefit from. These items can be found in various department stores or sports supply stores.
- Find a space. Obviously, you will need a nice and quiet space at home where you can do the various exercises. The area should have enough space for you to stretch and move around in. If possible, dedicate an area that is free from clutter. Now, if you are planning to use a Pilates video as a guide, you will want the area to have a TV and a DVD player as well.
- Advance in exercises and equipment. As you become more experienced with the different exercises in Pilates, you will want to be able to do the more complex routines. Once all the things you need have been purchased and you have taken all
the classes you want, half the battle has been won. This is actually the
easy part. The hard part will really be scheduling your daily
activities to include time for the workout. A lot of people get the gear
and equipment but fail to do the exercise simply because they don’t
