Reduce Your Stress!

Stress has become an accepted factor in our lives, but it doesn't have to be! The demands of job, family, and personal matters have made us all stressed out! However, all that stress can definitely lower the quality of our lives, so it is very important to learn how to get some stress relief!
- Do not consider personal time a luxury. We all need personal time. Sadly, it is usually treated as a luxury - something to do after everything else is finished. The problem, of course, is that everything else is never finished! For maximum stress relief, personal time should be scheduled, and kept! Treat it like any other appointment or commitment that you make.
- Schedule time with yourself. Now that you understand how important personal time is, put it in your calendar to get stress relief! Actually writing it in and setting a firm time and date can help you to not schedule anything else during that time. Write it in pen so that you cannot erase it easily!
- Think about what you like to do. Although you may think that you know what you like to do, many people are so busy that when they do have free time, they can't remember what they wanted to use it for! Keep a list for a few days - jotting down activities when they come to you - and hang it up. Activities can be as small as listening to a particular song or as large as planning a European getaway! When you have a few minutes, try to do some of the smaller activities. The more extensive ones will have to be planned, but by seeing the list every day, you will remember some of your stress relief goals.
- Find a soothing area. Stress relief is best attained when you are physically and emotionally comfortable. Whether your soothing space is your bedroom, home office, garden, or a favorite cafe, a relaxing space can facilitate faster stress relief.
- Give yourself grace. Many of us are our own toughest critics. Giving yourself permission to make mistakes, to not finish everything, and to take a break can go a long way toward relieving stress.
- Take what you can get. If you have an opportunity for ten minutes to yourself, don't miss it because you're waiting for a whole afternoon to be free! Taking relaxation and stress relieving time in small doses can considerably reduce your stress level, even if you don't think it will.

It is important to remember that your quality of life is significantly affected by the level of stress in your life. Be good to yourself - give yourself some stress relief. You deserve it!

One tip I do agree on is schedule time with yourself. Nothing beats scheduling something out just for yourself only and taking time off. Of all the things that are happening in our day to day lives, we tend to forget what is most important: to give ourselves a break from all the stress in the world. Writing it down will definitely come a long way.
