Strength. One of the keys to having and keeping good posture is to make sure you have the strength in your core muscles to hold yourself up correctly. This does not mean you have to go to the gym and work out like a maniac to have strong core muscles. Concentrate on low impact high repetition exercises that will strength your stomach muscles and lower back muscles. Strengthening this area will create better posture.
Relieve Stress. One of the things that can cause bad posture is having too much stress. Being stressed out can cause your body to tense up and you muscles to lock or not work properly. This discomfort causes you to slouch and lose the correct posture you need. Be sure you try to stay as stress free as possible and if you do have stress try to work it out in a positive way.
Firm Mattress. Another reason many people have bad posture is because of the mattress they sleep on at night. Too soft a mattress can cause you back to sag and cause you to create a bad posture habit. Make sure your mattress is firm and support your back for a more comfortable feel and it will help with your posture.
Shoulders. A great way to improve your posture is to concentrate on you position your shoulders. A common mistake many people make that causes bad posture is when they allow there shoulder to roll or slouch forward. Doing so causes stress down your back. Be sure you work on keeping your shoulders back which will help you stay more upright.
