Herbal tea is a tea comprising of plant infusions, other than the Camellia Sinensis. It doesn’t contain caffeine like regular teas, so people with hyperacidity can consume it without worry. Depending on its composition, it can cure ailments; give health benefits; or offer a combination of the two. You can make your own blend of warming herbal tea by following the steps below:
- Prepare the ingredients and tools. You will need 2 teaspoons dried orange peel, 2 tablespoons rosehips, 1 tablespoon dried ginger root, a tea strainer or tea ball, a medium-sized bowl, a spoon, and an amber bottle to make a warming herbal tea blend. You can buy all of these things in a natural health store.
- Create the herbal tea blend. Using a spoon, mix all the ingredients in a medium-sized bowl, and store the mixture in an amber bottle. The amber bottle makes a good container for herbal teas because it keeps the ingredients sheltered from light and heat.
- Infuse the herbal tea blend. Stir the herbal tea blend in the amber bottle. If you have a tea ball, put one teaspoon of the mixture in the tea ball, and steep it in a mug filled with hot water. Otherwise, put the mixture directly into the mug. Let the herbs stand for about 10 minutes, and remove them with tea strainer.
- Try another herbal warming tea recipe. Aside from the recipe mentioned above, you can also make a herbal warming tea using clove and cinnamon. Pour 3 cups of water in a pan, and add 1 teaspoon of cloves and 2 sticks of cinnamon into it. Boil the mixture for 15 minutes. Put the mixture in a mug, and let it steep for 10 minutes. Strain the herbs, before drinking.
- Herbal blend mixing. You can add other ingredients to your herbal tea based on the effect you want it to have on your body. If you want a medicinal tea, put chickweed, mint, thyme, licorice root, or sage to your blend. If you want your tea to be a bit spicy, add lemon peel, hibiscus, scented leaf geranium, or rose blossom into it. If you want to drink a relaxing tea, put linden flower, oat straw, chamomile, lemon balm, or skullcap to your tea mix. Plants that make your tea tasty are lemon verbena, mint, hibiscus, and chamomile.
It is a good idea to grow your own herbal plants, if you love drinking teas and have some space in your garden. This will enable you to pick herbs fresh and right out of the garden whenever you need them.
