Want to find out if you're pregnant right now? Here are signs to look out for if you're expecting a child:
Absence of Menstruation
If you have regular periods and you didn't have one this month, you might be pregnant. However there are many reasons why you can miss your period such as stress, medication, drastic weight changes, illness or hormonal imbalance. Look out for other symptoms as well.
Morning Sickness
You will usually experience this when you are about 5 weeks pregnant. This would make you feel dizzy and tired. Expect that you will throw up constantly especially whenever you smell something disagreeable.
Heightened Sense of Smell
If you are pregnant, you will find that eating or smelling certain foods or scents have a greater effect on you to the point that you may feel sick and dizzy.
Dizziness
You may feel dizzy throughout the day because of hormonal changes especially during the first three months of pregnancy. After this period, you may stop experiencing dizziness as your body gets accustomed to hormonal changes during pregnancy.
Food Cravings
You may find that you can tolerate eating only a specific kind of food, or that you want to eat certain foods regularly. This is a sign of pregnancy that may last for up to 9 months.
Sleeplessness
During the first three months, your body is doing a lot of work in supporting your child. You may feel tired yet unable to sleep as your body changes to accommodate a rapidly growing child.
Fatigue
If you feel tired all the time, you may be experiencing changes in your body that is associated with being pregnant.
Cramps and Spotting
You may experience signs that are normally present during menstruation. The difference is that the amount of blood you see is significantly lesser than that during a period. This is due to the implantation of the fertilized egg to the wall of your uterus during the first week of pregnancy.
Breast Changes
You may feel tenderness in your breasts during pregnancy. Your nipples may also darken and be more sensitive. This happens because your body is getting ready to produce milk for your baby.
Skin Changes
You may notice that some areas of your skin darken such as your face and your neck. You will also see a dark line that extends downwards from your belly button. This comes at later stages of pregnancy.
Mood Swings
Hormones may cause you to feel at the top of the world at one moment and then down in the dumps at the next. This is a normal part of pregnancy.
A Positive Result on the Pregnancy Test
This is the surest sign that you are pregnant. There are lots of tests available such as pregnancy tests that you could take at home and urine and blood tests done in the hospital laboratory. You could also have an ultrasound to see whether you are pregnant or not.
If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, go to your gynecologist and have yourself checked to find out whether you are indeed pregnant. The earlier you find out, the sooner you can take care of your child.
