Inflammatory bowel disease is a disease of the large or small intestines due to inflammation usually without known reason. Males and females are equally affected. Genetic factors, stress, cigarette smoking, environmental elements, pollution, the quality of modern food and stressful life situations are the main risk factors.
Chamomile is the best herbal treatment; its common names are chamomile and german chamomile. The herb has been used successfully and widely for thousands of years to treat diseases, and it is very effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. All age groups are treated successfully with chamomile.
Chamomile bag tea. You can prepare the bag tea by boiling one spoon of the chamomile flowers or one bag (about 2-3 grams) in a cup of water for 3 to 5 minutes three times daily.
Chamomile homemade tea. You can prepare a homemade tea by boiling 15 grams of the chamomile flowers in one pint of water for 15 minutes 2 times daily.
Other forms. You can use chamomile also as capsules, tablets, tincture or ointment. Consult your naturopath, physician or herbalist about the appropriate level of supplementation.
Chamomile is generally safe and its side effects are very rare. It is used also to treat various diseases such as: insomnia, anxiety, abdominal colic, diarrhea and eczema.
