Desensitization. One could also build a natural defense against panic attacks by exposing oneself to social anxiety triggers in a confined and secured environment. Fear of spiders and dogs, for instance, could be easily addressed in this way. By repeating exposure to the stimulus over a period of time, your reactions to that particular stimulus would likely change through time. For instance, if you have a fear of spiders, keeping spiders as pets will desensitize you from that fear in the long run. The same goes with possible sources of panic attacks.
Therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy also works wonders in the sense that one is made to redirect unpleasant reactions leading into a panic attack into something that is more workable and less paralyzing. This is done through sessions of counseling as well as fellowship with people with similar fears and concerns. Overcoming anxiety as a community or group does wonders in boosting one’s level of confidence.
Relaxation. The most obvious intervention for a panic attack is simply to relax. Taking it easy and just chilling out gives any nervous person a chance to catch its breath. If none of these methods work well, one can always go to a psychiatrist and get prescriptions for antidepressants and benzodiazepines. Anxiety is often both an individual and a social disorder. When the need arises, there’s nothing really wrong with taking drugs, as long as one does not grow to be too dependent on them. However, natural methods also work well, and might even be more beneficial in the long run.
