Do you have trouble getting up in the morning? If so, then you are like millions of people across the world who can't seem to wake up revived. So many people find it difficult to start their day due to fatigue. Let's take a look at some ways to win the battle against the alarm clock and wake up revived.

  • The first thing you might want to consider if you are having trouble waking up feeling revived, is if there is a medical issue. Ask someone, a spouse if you're married or a close friend if you're not, if you snore while you're sleeping. Snoring loudly while you sleep could be a sign of sleep apnea, especially if you sleep through the night and still wake up feeling tired. You may need to sleep with a breathing machine called a CPAP.
  • If you have trouble falling asleep at night, persistently, as in it takes hours for you to fall asleep. You may have insomnia, and might want to speak with your doctor about possibly prescribing a sleep aid to assist you in resetting your sleep pattern. Another thing to consider if you have trouble falling asleep, is if you do strenuous exercise right before you go to bed. While a short walk or stretching might help relax you and help you fall asleep, vigorous exercise has the opposite affect and can keep you awake.
  • You also want to make sure that you are getting enough sleep at night. Most people need at least 8 hours, so if you are getting less than that it's no wonder you don't wake up revived. To find out how much sleep you need to wake up feeling energetic in the morning, try adding a few minutes extra each night until you wake up feeling good.
  • If you go to bed at a time that allows for adequate hours of sleep, but you wake up throughout the night you might want to ask yourself a couple of questions. Do you consume alcohol or caffeine before bedtime? Alcohol and caffeine are stimulants and can affect your ability to stay asleep. Do you wake up due to tossing and turning? If so, your mattress could be the problem. You want to make sure you have the right one for you.
