Valentine's Day is a day when you'll want to impress that special someone and really wow her. The traditional way of doing this is with candy and even poetry. For those of you who aren't poetically inclined, there are many places to find free Valentine's Day poems.
A simple search on an search engine such as Google or Bing, with the keywords ‘Free Valentine's Day Poems' will yield thousands of results, so that's a good place to start. These poems, in general, are geared specifically towards Valentine's Day. Some results even have poems that can be modified to specifically fit each and every Valentine, such as inserting names or certain words that would fit best for your specific Valentine. These poems are largely generic, though, and it's easy for someone to recognize them as such.
If you want something a little more personal, you can also find Valentine's Day poems in regular poetry books. Because Valentine's Day is a day for romance, any romantic poem will do as long as you choose it with your sweetheart in mind. This not only makes the poem a little more personal, but shows that you put a little thought and consideration to find just the right poem.
Some of the more popular romantic poets include Coleridge, Wordsworth, and Lord Byron. One of the most popular poems is How Do I Love Thee? (Sonnet 43) by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. The thing to keep in mind with many classical poems, however, is that the language they use is archaic, which means that these poems aren't necessarily good for every sort of person. Many people find them a bit pretentious, so you'll have to take into account what sort of person your Valentine is.
Another way to find some Valentine's Day poems is through Valentine's Day e-cards. This approach might be a little harder considering that most e-cards consist only of music and a single line of text, but there are some good cards out there with poems like those that you find in cards at the store. Also, if you are spending Valentine's Day away from your sweetheart for whatever reason, an e-card is a good way to make sure they get the poem and know that you're thinking of them.
Just keep in mind that while most poems you find for Valentine's Day are free, it's important to give credit where it's due and never take credit for something you didn't write.
