How To Buy Theater Tickets

Many people enjoy going to the theater.  Whether it’s a glitzy Broadway musical or a meticulously staged classical drama, entertaining theater makes for a great night on the town.  All across the country, theaters large and small provide theatergoers with enjoyable and entertaining evenings.  Purchasing theater tickets is quite simple by following these easy steps:

The most common way to buy theater tickets is through the ticket offices brokered by the production to sell them.  Ticketmaster and Telecharge are two of the most common ticket brokers in the nation.   To purchase theater tickets through either of these sites, it’s necessary to determine which one of the two is the registered broker for the show.  Once this information has been verified, visit their website.

1. The first step in purchasing theater tickets is to find the location on the website.  Look for Ticketmaster’s “location” icon in the upper right hand corner, or Telecharge’s “city” tab towards the top of the screen.  Once the location is entered via city name or zip code, click the “Arts and Theater” tab on Ticketmaster.  Telecharge automatically provides a listing of all venues and shows for the location.  Scroll to find the desired show and click the link.
2. Next, find the date for which theater tickets are desired and click on it.  (Note- Many theater presentations offer matinees in addition to regular evening performances, so be sure to click on the time you wish to see the show.)  Clicking on the date will lead to another screen where “Find Tickets” will be displayed.  Telecharge allows searching for a range of dates, which can be handy when looking for theater tickets for popular shows.
3. Once the “Find Tickets” icon has been chosen, enter the number of tickets for purchase, the price and location of the tickets and click “Find Tickets” once again.  At this point, both sites will ask for a word or phrase, using CAPTCHA technology to prevent fraudulent transactions.
4. Once the CAPTCHA phrase has been entered correctly, the websites will search for available tickets to the show that’s been requested.  Once tickets have been found, each site provides an opportunity to make the purchase or to search the database once again.
5. Once the desired tickets have been found, follow the links to provide personal information, including name, address, email address, and credit card information. The process for buying tickets to the theater is that simple!
