How To Make Elmo Party Invitations

Elmo was first introduced to TV in 1979 via the television show Sesame Street. Back then he was simply called Little Monster. This furry, red puppet with the orange nose captured the hearts of millions of kids and moms alike with his engaging trademark laugh and his positive can-do attitude. Elmo has arrived and he is a certified superstar!

Invite Elmo, the furry superstar into your party by making Elmo Party Invitations! You may not have the real Elmo to celebrate with but you will have a perfect stand-in to make a fun and festive celebration.

Standard Elmo Party Invitation

You will need the following:

  • Elmo’s picture as your guide
  • Red cardstock or craft paper
  • Black cardstock or craft paper
  • Orange paper or orange pom-poms
  • A pair of plastic eyes
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Clear glue
  • Double-sided adhesive tape
  • Red Envelope
  • White sticker paper

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Create Elmo’s face by tracing an oval shape into the red cardstock or craft paper. Take your scissors and cut the shape out.
  2. Create Elmo’s nose by tracing the same oval shape into the orange paper. Take your scissors and cut the shape out. Use a small amount of glue to stick the nose into Elmo’s face.
  3. OR: Take the orange pom-poms and use a small amount of clear glue to stick this to Elmo’s face.
  4. Now come Elmo’s plastic eyes. Take the pair of plastic eyes and place double-sided adhesive tapes on each of the back of the plastic eyes and proceed to tape this on Elmo’s face.
  5. Proceed to make Elmo’s smile. Take the black paper, your pencil, and on the white portion at the back, begin to trace a half-moon shaped smile. Then, cut this part out and take a small amount of clear glue to stick this to Elmo’s face.
  6. Let the whole set of Elmo invitations dry thoroughly before placing each one in an envelope.
  7. While your invitations are drying, take your white sticker paper and write in the names of your invited guests along with your party details e.g. date, time, venue, and RSVP contact number.

Fur-rocious Elmo Invitation

You will need the following:

  • Elmo’s picture as your guide
  • Red and furry cardstock paper
  • Black felt paper
  • Orange pom-poms
  • A pair of wiggly eyes
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Clear glue
  • Double-sided adhesive tape
  • Red Envelope
  • White sticker paper 

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Create Elmo’s face by tracing an oval shape into the Red and furry cardstock paper. Take your scissors and cut the shape out.
  2. Then create Elmo’s nose by taking the orange pom-poms and a small amount of clear glue and stick the pom-poms on Elmo’s face.
  3. Now come Elmo’s wiggly eyes. Take the pair of wiggly eyes and place double-sided adhesive tapes on each of the back of the eyes and proceed to tape this on Elmo’s face.
  4. Proceed to make Elmo’s smile. Take the black felt paper, your pencil, and on the white portion at the back, begin to trace a half-moon shaped smile. Then, cut this part out and use a small amount of clear glue to stick this to the area below Elmo’s pom-pom nose.
  5. Let the whole set of Elmo invitations dry thoroughly before placing each one in an envelope.
  6. While your Elmo invitations are drying, take your white sticker paper and write in the names of your invited guests, along with your party details e.g. date, time, venue, and RSVP contact number.
